SNOW!

What a wonderful thing it was to wake up Sunday morning to see lots of white fluffy snow outside our windows!  As soon a baby Sam was down for her morning nap we bundled Casey up and took him outside to play!

Daddy started things off by making a snowman on the hood of my car.

I'm assuming Gary wanted Casey to have the full experience of snow falling from the sky.  After convincing Casey to stand under a tree Gary shook the branches to create a snow storm!

Don't worry, Casey thought it was grand!

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

Snow Storm!!!!

Daddy helped Casey make his first snow angel.

Casey found a stick in the snow and referred to it as his sword.

But with a little help from Daddy...

He had a snow sword!

My new hood ornament.

Sometimes you just have to let them experience something....

and then decide whether it was worth it or not... (in this instance Casey decided that putting your face in snow wasn't the best thing in the world).

Here Daddy is helping Casey make the biggest snowball in the world...

at least Casey thought so.

Snowman #2.

After her nap Samantha was able to spend a few minutes outside!

This is about the extent of her first snow experience.  She was bundled up so well that she could barely move!  And yes those are some of Casey's rain boots... when you don't have the right size footwear for snow days then you have to just make do.

Tis the Season

This has been a wonderful holiday season for our family.  It has been so much fun to see our little ones get excited by the sights and sounds of Christmas.  This was a fun holiday for Casey.  He really started to understand who Santa Clause is and about the birth of baby Jesus.  We have had a blast sharing stories, songs and traditions.

We made it out to the Greensboro Christmas Parade.  I know there's a parade around here somewhere, hmmm....

Here is a family photo taken before the parade... and the snow...

Gary laughed at me for putting so many layers on the kids.  But my goodness it was cold!

During the middle of the parade it started to snow!  The temperature continued to drop so we left about that time.

Here we have one worn out little reindeer... I mean boy.

Casey helped decorate the Christmas tree this year.  Maybe next year we can convince him to spread out the ornaments and not put everything on the same two branches!

This year we decided to try our luck with visiting Santa at Christmas Castle at Castle McCulloch.  I have to say that we had a wonderful time!  It was such a neat little event and no long lines to wait in!

So this is what a kitchen looks like on Christmas eve!

And this is what a counter top looks like after my first ever attempt at make rolls from scratch!

Christmas Eve is not complete without baking cookies for Santa.  After looking through a cookbook Casey decided he wanted to make Santa cookies.  Here is his handy work at the decorations (with a little help from Mommy)!

And then we have Christmas morning... the look of surprise at the toys that Santa left!

A happy little girl with her Santa toys!

Not only was it a white Christmas but Samantha got to see her first big snowfall!

The day after Christmas... the toy tornado has blown through our living room!

To back track a second... Here are some of our Christmas meals:
Breakfast Casserole for breakfast.

Stuffed ham for dinner.  Along with mashed potatoes (thank you Chris and Jessica), corn casserole (thank you Dad), candied yams (again thank you Dad) and peas.

And don't forget about my homemade potato rolls!!!

And for dessert a White Chocolate and Strawberry Tiramisu... with tea biscuits instead of lady fingers (because I could not find lady fingers at the store) and without the strawberries (because I forgot to put them on my shopping list).  It actually tasted a little bit like cheesecake... very tasty.

Back to the day after Christmas.  Enjoying the toys...

One of Casey's favorite gifts came from his Uncle Chris and Jessica...  a super boy cape!!!  Our son is no longer just Casey but is now ... SUPER CASEY, To The Rescue!!!!

Up, up and Away...
